How to Avoid Blocking Wealth and Success

When you try to attract abundance, wealth and success with the Law of Attraction, your own thoughts can sometimes work against you. Three of the most common ways this can happen are described below, along with tips for turning those negative thought habits into more positive ones.

Turn Doubt into Open-Minded Optimism

Have you ever gotten a great idea that caused your heart to beat faster and you began daydreaming about how awesome it would be to accomplish such a thing? Then most likely the doubt and disbelief crept in. You may have thought, “I don’t have the money or knowledge to do that; no one would take me seriously,” and so on.

For many of us, the problem isn’t that we aren’t capable of achieving great wealth and success – but that we have closed our minds to the many great ideas that could put us on the path to such an outcome. Doubt and disbelief are symptoms of a closed mind – and wealth and success cannot come from that type of mind-set.

Instead, open your mind; let the ideas flow in, and then do whatever you can to follow through on them and see where they might lead.
Infuse “You” Into Everything You Do

Have you ever tried to model your actions after others who have been successful doing what you want to do? This is not necessarily a bad idea because it’s true that you can learn a lot from others who have already accomplished what you want to accomplish. However, a problem arises when you try to squash down your own uniqueness in the process.

When you do this, you are not thinking for yourself but trying to become someone else – and that simply never works. You would do much better to embrace the qualities that make you unique and express them in every aspect of your work and personal life. You can still model your approach after the success of others – but do it in your own unique way.
Turn Negatives into Positives

You may be taking a “destructive” approach in improving your life by trying to blast the negative stuff out of your consciousness – as if hating something intently enough could remove it permanently. However, the more you focus on the negative the more you are going to keep perpetuating it in your life.

One of the most powerful techniques you can learn is the ability to switch the angle of your focus. Rather than trying to avoid focusing on the negative stuff, you can learn to see it in a different light – for example, imagining yourself being debt-free, rather than resisting the feeling of being in debt. It seems like such a small shift, but it can make all the difference in the world.

Speak out loud:

“I am fully present in this moment.”

I am aware of the chair on which I am sitting and the stool where I have placed my feet.

I feel the keys of the keyboard on which I am typing.

I hear the clicking of the keys.

I see the color of the keyboard.

I feel the mouse in my hand.

I see the words on the screen in front of me.

I am aware of what I want to say to you.

I am aware of copying this message and pasting it into an email window.

I am aware of where I need to send this message.

I am aware of who will receive it.

I am grateful for the opportunity to share with YOU.

“I am fully present in this moment.”

Apply this exercise to whatever you are doing.  BE fully present in the moment and enjoy the empowered results!

We all know what “posture” means.. standing erect, etc. But with regard to your business, your posture – your level of confidence and competence – determines how you are perceived by others. Developing posture takes training, dedication and time. Believe in yourself and your business, and until you do believe in yourself and your business, pretend you do! Practice confidence consciously and you will find that people are drawn to you and eager to learn from you.

When I first started my home-based business many years ago, I didn’t understand why no one took me seriously. I learned that it was because I had not yet developed my posture. I didn’t believe in myself so how could I expect anyone else to believe in me? Then one day I realized people were responding much more positively to me and my business began to grow! I mentioned it to one of my company leaders and she said “It’s your posture.” It was a great day for me!

Two of my favorite ways of developing posture are as follows:

1. Your 60 Second Commercial

Determine your weaknesses and the areas of your life that you would like to improve. Then write your “60 Second Commercial,” a statement of how you desire to BE once you have overcome your perceived weaknesses. Write it as if you have already accomplished your posture. For example, because many people have a fear of phone calls and doing follow up calls, you might include something similar to the following:

“I love making my follow up calls! I am really great talking to people about the products and the business. People trust me and respect my views and opinions. When I call people on the telephone, they are always glad to hear from me and anxious to hear what I have to say. I have tremendous confidence in myself and my ability to help others achieve success.”

I taped my 60 Second Commercial to my bathroom mirror and read it to myself every morning and every night. It’s a powerful thing when you begin to believe what you are reading. and then it becomes reality.

2. Your Vision

I have learned that having a Vision, a description of the first day that you accomplish your goals. For example, if your goal is to quit your J.O.B. and go full time with your network marketing company, you might write your Vision to describe the first day you wake up and begin your adventure as a full time network marketer. Be sure to include sights, sounds smells, etc. Make it feel real. Then read your Vision to yourself every day – even twice a day – until your vision becomes as real to you as your present. When your subconscious hears your Vision daily, it begins to believe it (I’ve heard that the subconscious mind cannot take a joke!) and therefore gets busy helping you to accomplish the goals and dreams contained in that Vision. This is very powerful.

You will know when you have developed yourposture because people will be ATTRACTED to you. It will impact every part of your life – personal and professional. I wish you every success on your journey to greater posture!

You have heard that “silence is golden,” right?

There are many teachers of the power of silence and you can buy books about the benefits of silence.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, “See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…we need silence to be able to touch souls.”

Many of us spend our lives waiting to speak, forming our words, anxious to respond, ready to answer instantly when another stops speaking.

As I was talking with one of my beloved spiritual partners on the telephone, I suddenly felt a prompting to purposefully practice five seconds of silence before responding to my partner’s statements.  I suggested this to my partner and we both began to observe the five second rule.

The results were profoundly amazing – so amazing that we both became giddy with joy.

During those five seconds of silence, we experienced peace and a connectedness to spirit that I had not experienced before. Those five seconds of silence felt like pure consciousness, an acute awareness of my spiritual self.

We both became the Observers of ourselves, watching as our consciousness shifted and our energy vibrations were raised.

We began to giggle as we talked about how others would react to us if we began to exercise our new power of silence by pausing for just five seconds before responding to another’s words.

Just five seconds.

We realized that during those five seconds of silence, we were in a state of allowing, receptive to Divine guidance, without the necessity of racing to be ready to speak immediately.

It is so simple, yet not easy to do.  Can you imagine?

If you observe just five seconds of silence in a conversation on the telephone, others will respond with, “Are you still there?”

And if we practice our five seconds of silence with friends and family, they will say, “Did you hear me?”

And we can respond with, “Yes, I am here… Yes, I hear you… I am simply observing five seconds of silence before I respond.”

Perhaps they will hear the peace in your voice or see the joy in your face as you begin to practice the art of truly listening, knowing that in your five seconds of silence you are in a state of receiving, trusting that your next words will be perfect and Divinely guided.

Try it!  Simply pause to observe five seconds of silence before speaking in any conversation.  Watch the shift in your consciousness.

That is the magic of five seconds of silence.
